The S4C Authority is committed to a policy of maximum possible openness about its discussions and decisions.
In addition to its programme of meetings with the public across Wales and the publication of its annual report and corporate plan, as well as a wide range of other information on S4C's web site, the Authority has decided to publish regular bulletins about its discussions and decisions.

Ben Bradshaw, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport has reappointed John Walter Jones OBE as Chair of the S4C Authority for a second term. The reappointment will be for a term of four years from 1 April 2010 to 31 March 2014.
John previously worked as a civil servant in the Welsh Office and for nearly 25 years his main responsibilities related to the Welsh language. In 1988 he had the task of establishing the Welsh Language Board and until his retirement in 2004 he was its Chief Executive. He was a member of the DCMS Viewers' Panel on digital switchover. He actively supports the Welsh nursery movement, Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin, and is a member of its Central Finance and Staffing Committee. He also supports the fund raising work of the Noah's Ark Appeal. He is an independent member of the University of Wales Institute Cardiff Stakeholder Forum. He was admitted as an honorary member of the National Eisteddfod Gorsedd at the 2004 Newport Eisteddfod. He is also an Honorary Fellow of Bangor University. Before his appointment as Chair, John was a member of the Authority from 01/09/2004.
1. S4C (Sianel Pedwar Cymru - the Welsh Fourth Channel) was established to provide a wide-ranging and high quality television service in Welsh. The S4C Authority is responsible for the provision of S4C's services and ensuring that S4C and S4C Digidol are delivered as public services and also that effective management arrangements, including financial management, are in place in relation to S4C's public and commercial activities.
2. This reappointment was carried out in accordance with the OCPA Code of Practice for Public Appointments. Reappointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. John Walter Jones has not undertaken any political activity during the past five years.
Today (19/11/2008) the S4C Authority published its Fair Trading Policy following a public consultation held during summer 2008.
S4C today (15/10/08) published its Content Strategy, devised for the bridging period between the beginning and the end of the digital switchover. The Strategy is aimed at delivering high-quality public service content for audiences in the multi-channel age.
Today (04/07/2008) the S4C Authority publishes a consultation on its Fair Trading Policy.
The Policy is intended to ensure that S4Cās dealings with its suppliers are conducted in a manner that is fair and reasonable.
The Authority is consulting to seek the views of key stakeholders on the content of the Policy before approving the final version.
