Dai prepares for the Royal Welsh Show

It's time to look forward to the Royal Welsh Show in Llanelwedd - and S4C is broadcasting several programmes which will give us a taste of what's to come in Wales' biggest annual agricultural event.

This year, Ceredigion is the Host County, and Dai Jones has received the "greatest honour of his life" in being chosen as President of this year's Show. In a special edition of Cefn Gwlad we'll follow Dai as he visits the competitors and characters that will play an important role in the 2010 Show.

Ceredigion's part in the Show

Dai travels to all corners of Ceredigion, from Tal-y-bont to Cardigan, and meets families who have contributed greatly to the Show's history for generations.

One such family is the Wilsons of Tregibi, who have had great success with their herd of Holstein and Jersey cattle. They've been competing at the Royal Welsh since it moved to its permanent site in Llanelwedd in 1963, and attends at least a dozen other shows each year.

The next generation

Young competitors are important to the Show, and S4C will be showing a special documentary following young competitors as they prepare for their big day in Llanelwedd.

The programme Y Sioe/10: Y Genhedlaeth Nesaf will follow five competitors in different categories.

These include 16-year-old Iestyn Owen, from Llanarthne, who will be competing in the sheepdog trials, and Elinor Rogers from Cwm Elan who will be competing with her goats.
